Apply to Host a Winter Discovery Camp!

UMAP member institutions are welcomed to apply to host a Discovery Camp program between December 2022-February 2023!

What is the Discovery Camp Program?  Discovery Camps are  immersive intercultural experiences during the summer or winter months, typically lasting 7-10 days.  The host institutions organize the content and pay for all in-country expenses (tuition, accommodation, meals, field trips, etc.), so  that a diversity of students from around the UMAP consortium can attend.  Discovery Camps enable UMAP member institutions and countries to showcase their countries and cultures to students from across the UMAP network.

Beginning in 2022, UMAP has expanded the Discovery Camp model and will offer at least two Discovery Camp cycles per year: Summer and Winter.  Applicants interested in hosting a Discovery camp can choose between offering a virtual or a physical camp.    Programs must include content related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Interested in applying to host a Discovery Camp?  The hosting application is now open, with a deadline of July 8, 2022 for programs taking place between December 2022-and February 2023.  Please use this link to access the application:   https://forms.gle/nUtKyHeRY9BmyG8Z8    Applications to host Discovery Camps will be reviewed by UMAP’s Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development Goals Taskforce.  Please note that this is a competitive process and it may not be possible to select all applicants.

UMAP at NAFSA 2022 – Book your meetings today!

We are delighted to announce that the UMAP International Secretariat will be attending the NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo 2022 in Denver, Colorado, USA. Throughout the conference, UMAP International Secretariat (IS) Director, Chelsey Laird, and UMAP Canada representative, Kate Zhang, will be available for 30-minute meetings.

To book a meeting, please follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Visit the UMAP @ NAFSA 2022 meeting schedule Calendly website.
  • Step 2: Click on your preferred date to see available time slots (May 31-June 3 – note the UMAP IS is not available June 3)
  • Step 3:Click on your preferred time slot and click “Confirm”.
  • Step 4: Enter your name, email, institution, and the UMAP representative you’d like to meet with. Then click “Schedule Event”.
  • Step 5: You’re booked! Add to calendar (if desired). 

All meetings will be held at the NAFSA 2022- Canada Pavilion, BC Booth (#830).

UMAP Networking @ NAFSA 2022

UMAP will also be hosting a networking session for National Secretariat’s and member institution representatives attending the NAFSA 2022 Annual Conference and Expo. Please confirm your attendance by emailing umap-is@umap.org by Friday May 27, 2022. Light refreshments will be available.
