UMAP and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United National Sustainable Developments Goals (UN SDGs) or Global Goals, are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” The SDGs were set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030. It is hoped that governments will translate the SDGs into national action plans, policies, and initiatives, reflecting the different realities and capacities that their countries possess.

UMAP has taken a unique approach to utilize the SDGs to frame our consortium’s leadership, actions, programs and governance. The integration of UN SDGs into UMAP programs and policies is supported by the Sustainable Development Goals and Strategic Planning Taskforce.

The Taskforce is comprised of at least 3 Board Members (or designated representatives) who have self-identified interest and/or expertise in the administration and programmatic development of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The responsibilities of the SDG and Strategic Planning taskforce are to provide general direction and guidance on the integration of the UN SDGs into various programs and policies in UMAP and work with the International Secretariat.

The 2024-2025 Board Members and/or representative(s) on the Taskforce are:
