Japan-Multilateral COIL/VE Project: 21st Century Skills

Kansai University’s Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE) is pleased to announce their newest initiative, the Japan-Multilateral COIL/VE Project.  The inaugural program takes the place of the previous UMAP-Kansai/IIGE COIL project, which was offered for the past three years.  This  new multilateral COIL Project is now open for student applications, with a deadline of January 14, 2022.  The program, focusing on “21st Century Skills,” will take place online February 7 to March 28, 2022.  

UMAP student participants must be nominated by their institutions.  Institutions must contact their National Secretariat to request the application spreadsheet and submit it on behalf of their of interested students, no later than January 14, 2022.  Institutions experiencing difficulty in connecting with their National Secretariat may request this information from the International Secretariat.

Institutions may nominate up to 10 students each.  A total of 60 UMAP students may be selected.   Instructions for completing and submitting the spreadsheet are included on the spreadsheet document.   Applications will be reviewed and selected by Kansai/IIGE.  Applicants will be notified of the results by January 25, 2022.  Additional information can be found at:  https://kuiige.wixsite.com/j-mcp

Program C “Summer Programs” Information Session

What is UMAP Program C?  Program C consists of short-term (one to eight-week) programs offered by UMAP Participating institutions. Programs are generally offered between May and September and are available in a wide range of disciplines: cultural studies, language proficiency courses, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and more. 

Institutions offering Program C may charge or waive tuition fees for students and may choose whether to offer credit for the program.  Program C is administered through the USCO platform.  UMAP institutions may register program C offerings until December 1, 2021 for the first application cycle or February 28, 2022 for the second application cycle.
