Climate Leaders Webinar Series, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

UMAP members are invited to participate in the Climate Leaders Webinar Series titled “Universities and Sustainable Communities: Towards a Green Agenda” organized by the Institute of Climate Change (IPI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in collaboration with the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) and Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

This webinar is designed to shape university leadership in strengthening its contribution to the local community and sustainable global community. It will serve as a platform to strengthen the university’s role in equipping graduates with comprehensive education and understanding global climate change issues.

The webinar will be held on Monday, October 17th, 2022 from 9.00 am (Kuala Lumpur, GMT +8) using the Zoom platform.

UMAP Discovery Camp 2023: The GLOBE Discover Indonesia

UMAP Discovery Camp 2023:  The GLOBE (Global Bound and Exchange) Discover Indonesia is a joint program collaboration between Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya & Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) Semarang.  The program will be held from 5-17 February 2023 in Surabaya and Semerang Indonesia. The participants will have insight and experience related to technology development in society, city development, culture, art, food and societal interaction.

ITS will expose participants to the implementation of SDGs 4-8-10-11-17 in Surabaya City, particularly City Council for Population Administration and Civil Registration, City Office for Education, and City Office for Cooperation and Micro Enterprises. The program will provide SDG related courses, site visits to government offices, case studies, and projects The use of technology in achieving sustainability post pandemic will be the highlight. In addition, participants will be given opportunities to learn Indonesian traditional instruments and martial arts.

Unissula will provide a seminar on SDGs 4-5-11-16 in the context of Semarang City, particularly related to Semarang as a peaceful multi-religion city, resilient city and community, and the role of women as front liners against pandemic.

In addition, participants will be provided with basic Indonesian language classes, batik shirt making, and a traditional dancing course. The joint program between ITS in East Java and Unissula in Central Java will definitely offer a great opportunity for participants to discover Indonesia!

AMPEI: Asociacion Mexicana Para la Educacion Internacional “Speed Dating” Networking Opportunity

UMAP member institutions in Canada, Mexico, and the US are invited to participate in AMPEI-PIC:  The Asociacion Mexicana Para la Educacion Internacional Program for the Internationalization of Curricula.   The goal of this program is to support tri-lateral (Canada, Mexico, US) teams of faculty in Collaborative Online International Learning.  “Academic Speed Dating” sessions will take place on four dates in September and October, to help interested faculty find partners. 

During the event, participants are expected to make a short presentation of their academic background followed by a short description of the COIL component they would like to implement.  After the introduction to the session, there will be the chance for participants to introduce themselves to several small break-out rooms. This will be the space to share your ideas and find a COIL teaching partner!
