Collaborative Research Opportunity on Impacts of Study Abroad

Research Project: Investigating the Long-Term Outcomes and Impacts of Short-Term Mobility (Study Abroad) Programs on Alumni Participants’ Diversity, Leadership, and Employment Pathways

UMAP member institutions are invited to partner with a team of  Australian researchers to  to investigate long-term outcomes of outbound study abroad programs on participants’ career decision-making.  Research will also explore student participants’ capacity for working in decolonising and culturally diverse ways, as well as the impacts of programs on participants’ global awareness linked to global citizenship and Sustainable Development Goals (especially where low and middle income (developing) countries are involved). The current research team is  particularly interested in teacher education, but is open to discuss inclusion of other fields.

Interested UMAP members can review the complete proposal HERE and should plan to attend the online information session taking place  Wednesday July 17, 19:00 Vancouver / 22:00 Santiago / Thursday July 18 02:00 UTC / 10:00 Manila; KL / 11:00 Tokyo / 12:00 Melbourne

UMAP Thailand Micro-credential offerings

King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) is delighted to introduce the Thailand UMAP Micro Credential program which aims to fulfil the needs of learners who seek to upskill and reskill, develop needed specific competencies, or lifelong learning.

KMUTT Micro-Credential is a system that “verifies” and “enhances” an individual’s specific skills using competency-based assessment. With this approach, an individual can efficiently and clearly demonstrate their competencies by submitting evidence or work samples according to the evaluation criteria. It is ideal for “Self- Learners” — those who are able to learn by themselves outside a classroom environment — who wish to evaluate their competency. Through micro-credentials, an individual can demonstrate their valuable competencies irrespective of how and where they are learnt. When an individual passes the evaluation criteria, they will earn a Digital Badge issued by KMUTT as a verification of their competency.

UMAP Research Net 2024 Competition now open

UMAP Research Net promotes research collaboration and facilitates cooperation among member institutions across the UMAP Network. Research Net aims to promote academic mobility and collaboration, and to promote effective interaction and exchange among scholars, researchers, and educators across cultures.

UMAP Research Net announces calls for collaborative multi-institution research proposals which are then reviewed by an international panel of reviewers.  UMAP selects the proposals based on their significance, timelines, and relevance to the goals of UMAP.   The Research Net Competition is held approximately every two years. The 2024 Research Net Competition is currently open. Please see the Call for Proposals and Application Guidelines linked here for more information.   The application form is available here with a deadline of June 30, 2024.
