Responsibilities of UMAP Members

To ensure a high-quality exchange experience, each participating institution serves as both a Home and Host institution. Their respective responsibilities are outlined below

Home Institution Responsibilities

As a Home Institution, your primary role is to prepare and support your students as they head abroad.

    • Participant Selection: Manage the internal recruitment and selection of qualified exchange students.
    • Program Approval: Review and approve student study plans, including any necessary language preparation.
    • Financial Support: Determine and manage the level of financial assistance or scholarships provided to outgoing participants.
    • Pre-departure Preparation: Conduct appropriate preparatory courses and orientations to ready students for their international experience.
    • Credit Recognition: Ensure seamless academic integration by recognizing work completed overseas using the UCTS (UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme).

Host Institution Responsibilities

As a Host Institution, your focus is on providing a welcoming environment and academic excellence for incoming students.

    • Academic Delivery: Provide the agreed-upon study programs and curricula for all participants.
    • Performance Evaluation: Assess student performance and provide official transcripts to the home institution in a timely manner.
    • Support Services: Offer comprehensive orientation sessions and ongoing administrative support throughout the student’s stay.
    • Accommodation Assistance: Help participants secure safe and appropriate housing at a reasonable cost.
    • Health and Wellness: Ensure that necessary healthcare arrangements and safety protocols are in place for all visiting students.
