3. Dates
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, UMAP Discovery Camp 2020 in Malaysia will be postponed to 2022. |

5. Objectives – Enhancing international understanding through mobility between students from UMAP member countries. – Showcasing the unique culture and environment of Malaysia. – Encouraging students to learn about the importance of preserving the environment. |
6. Content The program consists of lectures, field trips, cultural activities and performances. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with scholars and experts in the field and at the same time interact with the local communities. At the end of the program, the participants will gain new knowledge and insights on Malaysia that will enhance them as global citizens. |
7. Participants 24 to 30 participants |
8. Fees – Program fees, such as tuition, accommodation, activities, local transportation and welcome/farewell parties will be covered by the organizer. – Participants are responsible for travel arrangements (to and from Malaysia) and expenses such as medical insurance and other personal expenses. |
9. Credit & Certificate Students who have completed the entire program (i.e. all lectures and activities) will earn 2 credits as well as Certificate of Participation* issued by UMAP Malaysia National Secretariat. |
10. Eligibility – Must be a student registering at UMAP’s pledged universities /colleges in full member countries/ territories. – Age between 18 – 23 years old as of April 30th 2020 (preferable) – Must possess a good command of English Language, with one of the following proficiency scores: > IELTS: overall score of 5.0 or – Must obtain a permit to enter Malaysia as stated in the following website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia [https://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/home] if required. – Purchase international health insurance in their home country which covers both illness and accidents. – Friendly and enthusiastic personality to participate and contribute to the UMAP Discovery Camp 2020. – Be willing to attend and participate in all lectures and activities included in the program. – Be physically fit to travel and able to engage in all activities, such walking and simple hiking. |
11. How to Apply Step 1 – Each pledged institution may nominate up to 2 students through email at oir@ukm.edu.my Step 2 – The Malaysia National Secretariat will notify applicants to complete the application process. Step 3 – Announcement of successful participants.
