Universida de Quintana Roo (The University of Quintana Roo) was founded on May 24th, 1991. Our creation charter defines our vocation as a Caribbean university. We are the largest and most important public university in the State of Quintana Roo, with campuses in its 4 main cities: Chetumal, Cozumel Island, Playa del Carmen and Cancún. We have the largest higher education enrollment in Quintana Roo, with more than 5 thousand registered students in 2016. The University of Quintana Roo has been certified for more than 10 years by the International Quality Management Systems standards, ISO 9001-2015, which ensures high quality performance in all its administrative processes. We have the largest library system in the State, with more than 90 thousand volumes and 36 thousand ebooks and full text articles. Our academic programs are certified by the national highest standards of academic quality (COPAES, CIEES and CONACYT) All our Masters and Doctoral degrees belong to the National Register of Quality Postgraduate Programs. We are considered among the elite public universities in Mexico, as certified by the US-Mexico Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange: COMEXUS. We belong to some of the most important academic organizations in Mexico and the world (ANUIES, UDUAL, CONAHEC, AMPEI, and IESALC, among others), with more than 30 national and international signed agreements. We have the largest and most qualified faculty in Quintana Roo: 88 out of 180 professors hold a Ph.D. and 17 are currently enrolled in a national or international doctorate program. This amounts to 55 % of our faculty.
